Formed in 1995 in Oregon, American punk band Shorthanded was originally a trio featuring Andy Wiseman(bass/vocals), Chad Davis (drums), and Steve Davis (guitar). After Steve’s early departure, the group underwent a pivotal lineup shift, with Wiseman stepping into guitar and vocal duties and Jason Zeh joining on bass. This trio would go on to form the band’s core lineup and establish their reputation in the punk scene.
Known for their high-energy, full-throttle approach to punk rock, Shorthanded made their debut in 1997 with a self-titled 7-inch. They followed it up with their first full-length album, Simple, in 1998, and the Slices of Life EP in 1999—all released via indie label Boot to Head Records.
The band’s raw sound and growing underground following caught the attention of Tooth & Nail Records, who signed them in 1999. Their label debut, Forever Yours, dropped in 2001 and featured production from Bill Stevenson and Stephen Egerton of Descendents/ALL. The album blended newly recorded material with fan favorites from their Boot to Head era.

After Forever Yours, the band entered a long period of inactivity, as members focused on personal lives and other projects. But punk is eternal—and so is the creative spark. In the early 2020s, Wiseman reconnected with Stevenson, reigniting the band’s momentum.
The result? A series of new releases beginning with Loco Lucky in 2022, followed by Arabica, Waiting Up at Home, and a string of fresh singles and EPs throughout 2024 and 2025. Shorthanded is back—and they’re proving that authentic punk rock still thrives, no matter the decade.
