(Trust me, I’m a surgeon)
Tigger Lyons has a long history in the rock scene, having played bass for Hustler, a 1970s rock band signed to A&M Records. Hustler recorded two successful albums and toured with iconic acts like Queen and Status Quo.
In 1977, Tigger and Brian Dear formed The Brain Surgeons, a punk band that played shows nationwide. After Tigger left in 1979 for Los Angeles, Brian continued to hone his craft with various line-ups. Fast-forward 46 years to January 2023, when Brian invited Tigger to perform with him at a local pub. Their chemistry was instant, as if no time had passed since they last shared a stage.
Completing the trio is John Barrett, a highly skilled drummer with a wealth of experience performing with showbands both nationally and internationally. John’s creative flair and professionalism are key to The Surgeonaires’ distinctive sound. His tight work with Tigger’s intricate bass lines, combined with his innovative fills, provides the heartbeat of the band.
Brian Dear’s experience performing across the country has made him the perfect frontman for The Surgeonaires. His sharp guitar work and commanding stage presence allow Tigger and John to shine, while their combined energy creates an unforgettable show.
The Surgeonaires’ Sound:
The Surgeonaires provide the perfect platform for Brian and Tigger to showcase their songwriting skills. Their music is charismatic, melodic, and energetic, delivered with attitude and humor. Each performance earns them new fans, leaving audiences eager for more.
In 2023, Tigger rediscovered some old recordings from The Brain Surgeons, previously unreleased tracks that became a tribute to their late drummer, Mark Evans. Along with original guitarist MickieP, they mastered the recordings and released the Delicate Operation EP in February 2024. The Surgeonaires included these tracks in their set, gaining more popularity along the way.
Following this, the band hit the studio to create fresh material. In September 2024, they released their Get Out EP, featuring a reimagined version of the 1974 Hustler single “Get Outa My House,” sung by Tigger Lyons himself. The EP also includes the fan favorite “When the Bullets Fly” and the enigmatic track “Runaway.”
With their infectious energy, original sound, and powerful live performances, The Surgeonaires are making waves in the rock scene. Make sure to catch them live and add their EPs to your playlist!
