“HAUSPOINTS Announce Debut Album Eel Feeling, Set for Release on 21st September 2024“
NMR – “Im liking the style of this track, guitar based chord arrangements drive the track and provide the energy, with a pulsing Bass and drum track, all topped off by the spoken lyric, very cool!”
Established on a dilapidated industrial estate at the foot of an overgrown hill in darkest Lancashire, Chorley-based alt-pop quartet HAUSPOINTS are thrilled to reveal their forthcoming debut album, Eel Feeling. The album is scheduled for release on 21st September 2024 via independent label Crackedankles (home to acts like Thank, MICHAEL, and Evil Blizzard).
In celebration of this news, the band is excited to share their lead single, ‘Hear No, See No’, which will be released on 12th July 2024.
Exploring a distinctly northern viewpoint on modern life, HAUSPOINTS’ music feels like a love letter to popular culture, finding beauty in mundane details and celebrating the quirkiness of human existence. Their debut album Eel Feeling offers a beat-heavy rasp that treads an unfurrowed path across multiple genres, yet remains grounded without becoming too obscure.
Frontman Palmo elaborates on the inspiration behind the album:
“Overall, the album’s loose concept is based on my car radio, which has a Bluetooth/FM transmitter to avoid commercial or mainstream analog radio stations. I don’t necessarily feel all that strongly about them; I just spend too much time in my car to not have something worthwhile to wrap my ears around. Because of the poor quality of the transmitter, random interference would regularly interrupt whatever I was listening to, hence the sporadic bursts of noise throughout the album.”
“The perspective lyrically has always been written through a Northern lens, bemused at the absurdity of modern human existence, not without a sense of wry humour. I’m not expecting anyone else to get the joke — I’m just trying to keep myself entertained.”
Regarding the first single, ‘Hear No, See No’, Palmo adds:
“It asks the question of whether intellectual property can actually be owned. Can anyone truly own an idea? How far can you take that argument? There are probably some dry legal definitions for this, but I haven’t read them.”
In 2023, HAUSPOINTS self-released their EP Bloody Interference on cassette and their 7” single ‘Total Diversion’ on Crackedankles, which sold out in a single day. The band has received repeated airtime on BBC 6 Music and BBC Introducing, with early press tips from Plastic Magazine and The Unsigned Guide. John from the band JOHN made them his “Hot Tip” on the BBC 6 Music New Music Fix Daily broadcast in July 2023.
Though still in the early stages of their live career, HAUSPOINTS have already shared the stage with notable acts like From The Jam, The Buzzcocks, and Space.
