Dead Actors: Cinematic Soundscapes from the Shadows of Brighton and London
Dead Actors is an art-rock four-piece straddling the creative currents of Brighton and London. Formed in 2021, the band began as the solo outlet for guitarist, singer, and songwriter Jonah Hartley, who released the debut album Dancing Plague of 1518. What started as a personal project has since grown into a richly collaborative endeavor.
The current lineup features Daniel Brown and his infamous ‘evil guitar’—a mutilated Jazzmaster that adds raw tension to the sound—alongside Ciarán Harris on bass and Maxime Rigoulay behind the drums. While the sonic palette has expanded into more experimental and exploratory territory, Jonah’s introspective and cinematic lyrics remain at the heart of the band’s identity.

New EP: Abused and Pampered Horses
On April 4th, Dead Actors unveiled their new EP, Abused and Pampered Horses, a vivid and visceral collection that captures the band’s evolving dynamics. Three singles paved the way for this release:
- Liquid Mercury – Released January 24
- Nearly Valentine’s Day – Released February 13
- Bright White Blinding Light – Released March 7
Each track presents a different facet of the band’s progression, from dreamy introspection to full-blown sonic catharsis. Haunting guitars and textured soundscapes form the backdrop for stream-of-consciousness lyrics that are at once surreal and grounded. The moods shift fluidly—from gentle and ethereal to violent to violent and dramatic—proving Dead Actors to be a band unafraid of extremes.
