Cosmos Ray – Heavy ( The Blame is) ( Electro / Hip Hop )

“ Cool synth riffs, nice arrangements, this track has an addictive rhythm. “

NMR – Im into tracks with cool synth sequencer lines, for me they provide structure but also movement and rhythm, and this doesn’t disappoint, some nice sounds and arrangements, the track gets layered with vocals and melodies weaving their way around the solid backdrop which adds great dynamics, definitely one for a playlist.

Indie Artist Cosmos Ray is back, and he’s not holding back. His new single “Heavy” is a slow-burning, emotionally charged dive into the wreckage of love and the weight of blame that lingers after the fall. With his signature blend of soulful vocalsgritty grooves, and poetic lyricism, Ray sets the tone for his highly anticipated debut solo album The More We Live, out May 16, 2025.

Rooted in the warm textures of soulfunk, and electronic experimentation, “Heavy” doesn’t just tell a story…. it confesses, confronts, and mourns. The refrain —

“Heavy, the blame is / Heavy when I’m with you” —

carries the emotional load, as Cosmos Ray moves through denial, bitterness, and the search for clarity in the aftermath of a relationship unraveling under the pressure of unspoken wounds.

“It’s about what we carry when love breaks down — not just the heartbreak, but the blame, the ego, the stories we tell ourselves about who’s at fault,” Ray shares.

‘Heavy’ was one of the hardest songs to finish because it was one of the most honest.

Heavy” offers a raw glimpse into the themes explored throughout The More We Live, a 19-track concept album shaped by Ray’s personal journey through grief, healing, and self-reclamation following the loss of his father — a powerful figure in his life and his first musical mentor.
