Dolly Mavies – New Single “In Your Head” Ahead of Upcoming Album In The Dark
Oxford-based post-folk artist Dolly Mavies returns with her striking new single “In Your Head”, set for release on 3 October 2025. The track serves as the first glimpse of her forthcoming album In The Dark, due in Spring 2026.
To celebrate the release, Dolly will headline The Old Fire Station in Oxford, joined by Pet Twin and The Bobo as support acts.
The Journey ..
“In Your Head” dives deep into the spaces between dream and reality — a haunting exploration of nightmares, sleep paralysis, and blurred perceptions. With anthemic instrumentation and evocative lyricism, the song captures the unease of being gaslit and the spiral of overthinking, offering listeners a sense of cathartic defiance.
“‘In Your Head’ came from that fragile place between night and day, when dreams feel real and reality feels like a dream,” says Dolly. “It’s about being stuck in your own thoughts, questioning yourself, and learning to fight back against that inner chaos.”
Marking the start of a bold new era, “In Your Head” showcases a sound that’s both cinematic and deeply human. Dolly’s music has drawn comparisons to Florence + The Machine, Daughter, and Ben Howard — blending intimate storytelling with expansive, post-folk soundscapes.
Joined by her talented band — Adrian Banks (bass), Chris Gillett (lead guitar), and Ruth Draper (keys, backing vocals) — Dolly continues to evolve her style while maintaining the emotional depth that first drew audiences to her work.
Her acclaimed 2023 debut album earned national radio play and glowing reviews, and this new single hints at a darker, more anthemic direction for her second record.
