NMR – A new wave of Pop Punk seems to be coming through at the moment, and these guys are taking it on with their new track “Watch it Flicker” from the album “A Bolt from the Blue”, its got all the right energy and riffs to keep us entertained, with a great vocal style and delivery, check it out !
Formed in London in 2018, Modern Shakes bring together catchy, well-crafted songwriting and modern punk rock energy to create a contemporary mid-west orgcore sound. With memorable melodies, powerful dynamics, and choruses that get audiences singing along, this band has quickly carved out a niche in the punk rock scene.
Modern Shakes have had the pleasure of supporting international touring bands like The Dopamines, Clowns, and Pkew Pkew Pkew, and have shared the stage with top UK acts like Darko, Lovebreakers, and Sunliner. They’ve also featured on several great festival line-ups, showcasing their vibrant and engaging live performances.
Their debut EP, “Murmur”, released in 2019, immediately caught the attention of the UK punk scene, receiving huge praise from established reviewers. Colin’s Punk Rock World even named it the number 1 release of 2019.
In July 2020, Modern Shakes followed up with their EP “Some Day, One Day”, featuring singles “Fair Do’s” and “Cruising,” complete with accompanying music videos. The EP garnered hugely positive reviews, further solidifying their presence in the punk rock community.
2022 saw the band begin work on their debut full-length album with producer Daly George (known for his work with Boston Manor, Creeper, Darko, Burnt Tapes, and Tripsun). Throughout 2023 and 2024, they released singles “Ask The Dust,” “Icing on the Horizon,” “Canadasolite,” and “Watch it Flicker,” giving audiences an exciting glimpse into their evolving sound.
Finally, on May 24, 2024, Modern Shakes released their highly anticipated debut LP, “A Bolt From The Blue”. Available on Vinyl, Cassette, and Digitally, the album was released through Disconnect Disconnect (UK), Cats Claw Records (UK), Fond of Life (DE), Keep It A Secret (DE), Double Helix Records (US), and Punk Rock Radar (US).
With their relentless energy and knack for crafting unforgettable punk rock anthems, Modern Shakes continue to captivate audiences and critics alike, marking them as a standout act in the contemporary punk rock scene.
